Rona Engineers arrived at the above location to perform structural steel inspection as requested by Superintendent
Dean Preston with Purple Mountain Constructors.
I. Anchor bolt tension verification of all thirteen columns was found in compliance with erection drawings and job
specifications, compliant.
II. Bar joists inspection -the welded bar joists were inspected to AWS Dl.l-02 and erection drawings. All welded
joists complied, no deviations were noted, compliant.
III. During the inspection of items I and II, the following deviations were noted:
A. *Base plates of columns are'h inch thick and not'/a inch as shown on drawings. Clarification is needed of
this deviation. (non-compliant)
B. *No clearance in between base plates of columns and floor slab. One inch clearance is needed as shown
on the erection drawings. At some columns, there is Y< inch clearance and at others, no clearance at all.
Superintendent was made awaze and clarification of this deviation (clearance is for grouting purposes).

C. *Need approvaUclarification for torch cut holes on base plates of columns located at the north side and the
west side of the building. Base plate columns were identified with pink flags (no grid lines). (non-
compliant)
D. *Need approval/clarification for torch cut holes on splicing plates at north and south sides of the building
(splicing plate used for transition of beam size). (non-compliant)
E. *Requested WQT's for welders to erector's foreman (Rock & S Constructors) WQT's to be submitted on
the next visit. (non-compliant)
