Materials. All material~ shall conform with the respective requirements of the Standard Sp~c~fication Items of "Concrete for Structures", "Concret~ Structures", "concrete Admixtures", "Concrete ~avement (Water Cement Ratio)" =nd/er "Concrete Pavement (continuously Reinforced)" with the following exceptions: (1) C~m~nt. Portland cein~n5 shall be Type I. The same brand and ~ource sh~l~ be used throughout the ~tructure. (2) Coarse Aggregate. !he coarse aggregate shall cons=st of durable particles of nataral or crushes gravel and shall conform to Item 491, "ConcreTe for Structures". Gradation for coarse aggregate shall be specified on the plans. (3) Fine Aggregate. Fine aggregate snail con~[st of clean, hard, durable arid noncoated particles of natural or manufactured sand or a combination thereo~ with or withou~ a mineral filler and shall cen~o~m =o Item 421, "Concrete ~or Structures". Gradation for fine aggregate be approved by the Eng=neer. (4) Concrete. The concrete shall contain 5.5 sack of per cubkc yard. An air entra%nin9 spent and/or a Typ~ A water reducing e: a Type D water-reducing retarding admixture complyimg with Standard Specification Item 'Ccncre=e Admixtures" may b~ used. Concrete Strength sh=ll oe a minimum 3000 PSI at 28 days. Strength specimens shall be made, cured and tesle~ ~n accordance with Te~t Method Tex-418-A~ (5) Integral Color Admixture. Bemanite Integral Color Admixture {as manufactured by Bom~e~te Corporation}. The color shall be as ~peci~ied on the plans. {6) Release Agent. Releas~ Agen~ manufactured by Bomani~e Corp~ratzon. The color shall De as speuif~ed on the plans. (7) Acrylic Sealer. Sealer shall m~et t~e requirements of ASTM C- 309. Pa~e 2 o~ ~ Construc%ion Methods. Any required excavation and backfill shall be done in accordance wi~h Item 400t "Structural ExcavatLon". ~×cept projects of comparable size and be !icen~ed by Bomanite Corporation. (I) The integral color adml×tures ~h~li be added to the coxtcrete at the rate and method determined ~n accordance with the manufacturer's recom/0endations and as approved ~he Engineer. Regardless of the method used~ the Contractor wLll maintain a un~form color of the color specified. (2) The concrete mix shall be placed and screeded %o the proper ~rad~ and wood floated to a unifer~ surface in the normal manner. (3) While the coneret@ is stlll in ~he plastic stage of ~et, using special imprinting tools approved by the Engineer, the concrete shall be patterned us£ng the special imprinulng tools to create the surface as shown on the plan~ and as approved by the Engineer. Application of Acrylic Sealer, (A.) Preparatory Work. Clean Surfaces of existing d%r~, chemical films, oil, tar~ grease, and stains by methods approved by the Engineer. New concrete all be in place a minimum of ~even days before uppl~cat~on. Protect plant i~fe anO ot~er area~ that may be damaged by the sealer. (B.) Acceptable Methods of Appl~canion. Apply sealer at the ra%e of 250 squmr~ fe~t per gallon. Apply ~ealer at a uniform wet film thickness. Do not dilute or alter material packaged. Allow ~4 hours after appllcat~on before opening ~o ~raff%c. 1. Spray Application. Apply mealer with co~ercia! spray apparauu~. U~ a suitable working pressure to produce a uniform spray pattern with a fan type spray nozzle wi%h orifice sl~e no smaller that 0.035 inch. Apply only at rate specxfied. Broom sealer to e!~minate "puddling". Avoi~ everspray and deposits of material on other objects. 2. Roller Application. Us~ full nap roller and apply with mln~mum overlap. Payment. Payr~o~t ior 'Colored-Texturlzed Concrete" of the t~c~ses~ sp,cif~ed~ measured as specified herein, will De paid for at the unit bid per "squ~r'~ yard" and sha~l be ~ull compensatlo~ for furnishing, placing, ~inishing and curing of th~ col©r~d-Te×turlzed The above payment ~hall be full compensation for all manerials, tool~, l~bor, equipment ~nd £ncidentals necessary to COmplete the work.
