ST9304-CS 941017DALLAS COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS October 17, 1994 Mr. Ken Griffin, P.E. Assistant City Manager/City Engineer City of Coppell 255 Parkway Boulevard Coppell, Texas 75019 Re: Belt Line Road -- Project 490-403.1/91-829 (Denton Tap Road to MacArthur Boulevard) Pre-Design Conference and Bike Lanes The following items were not specifically on the pre-design conference agenda but were discussed at the conference. Cross slope grades in the right-of-way may vary from ~" ft. up to 3: 1. Coppell desires a of 4:1 slope maximum. This will be accommodated where ever possible. The minimum centerline radius to be used is 1000' with no special super elevation. Most left turn storage lanes will be 100'. Potential locations for left turn lanes are Moore and Mockingbird. The drainage design criteria will be the current City of Dallas 100 year event criteria. The bridge will be designed to provide either 1' of freeboard above the ultimate 100 year event or 2' of freeboard above the existing 100 year event, whichever is more restrictiveo Future street lighting will be provided in the roadway median. Coppeil will provide the details and funding for pavers at all intersections. Coppell will need the project's plan view CAD files to prepare for public meetings. 411 Elm Street Dallas, Texas 75202 653-7151 Mr. Ken Griffin, P.E. October 13, 1994 Page Two The estimated additional cost for bike lanes on this project is $264,287. This cost is for the total length of the project. The City of Dallas Bike Thoroughfare plan does not include this portion of Belt Line Road. If Coppell wishes to include bike lanes, the entire cost would have to be borne by Coppell. Per our telephone conversation on Wednesday, 12, October 1994, the engineering consultant will be directed to not include bike lanes on this project. Please call me at (214) 653-7151 if you have any questions concerning these matters. Sincerely, (~roject~~nieneer JMS:slc ~'~ Attachment xc: Pat Kunz, P.E. Albert H.
