RE: Signage on S.H. 121 Bypass
Dear Mr. Elsom:
In the past year a residential development called Vistas of Coppell has been developing on the south
side of Spur 553 (future S.H. 121 Bypass) between Denton Tap Road and MacArthur Blvd. This
development will be in excess of 250 homes. Also, the Coppell Independent School District (CISD) is
constructing an elementary and middle school west of the Vistas of Coppell development and east of
Denton Tap Road. As for undeveloped land, there is approximately 23 + acres zoned Multi-family
between the Vistas of Coppell development and the new school sites.
Between Denton Tap Road and MacArthur Blvd. along the S.H. 121 Bypass there are two crossover
streets named Ridgemont Drive and Rockbrook Drive. It is my understanding that when the main
lanes of S.H. 121 Bypass are constructed both crossover streets will be eliminated. Currently,
motorists are using the crossovers to access these developments. I am requesting the placement of
informational signs on the crossover streets stating "Temporary Crossover Street". With the
placement of signs, residents and patrons of the school will know that in the future the crossover
streets will be eliminated. Potential residents have stated they were unaware of the fact that the
crossover streets will be removed when the main lanes of S.H. 121 Bypass are constructed. I
explained to them that to access the schools or to go to Denton Tap Road in the future, they will need
to go east on the frontage road to MacArthur Blvd. make a U-turn and then go west to Denton Tap
Road.
Since these developments are just underway, the installation of signs stating 'Temporary Crossover
Street" will provide pertinent information to let residents know that the crossover streets are not
permanent.
Your consideration of these signs will be greatly appreciated. If you shotrid have any questions or
comments please contact me at (972)304-3681.
