SS9901-CS040326COl'FELL March 26, 2004 Mr. Charlie Stringer Water Facilities Project Management City of Dallas 2121 Main Street, Suite 500 Dallas, Texas 75201 DeForest Lift Station Improvements SS 99-01 Force Main Line "B' Dear Mr. Stringer: This is a follow-up to my letter dated February. 18, 2003 conceming the proposed construction of a 30-inch force main that will cross under an existing City of Dallas 54-inch water line located in a Dallas owned 20-foot water line easement. Re plan sheets that were enclosed showed the open cut/boring installation of the force main through thc casement. I received a letter from Mr. Randy Nelson, Program Manager of Engineering Services, on March 24, 2003 stating that the 2-foot separation distance did not meet the TCEQ requirements. The consultant for the project said the force main was designed in accordance with the TCEQ Proposed Chapter 217, Subchapter C: Conventional Collection Systems, §217.53 Pipe Design, (d), (2). ~he proposed pipe is ductile iron with a pressure rating of 150 psi, is encased, and has the 2-foot minimum separation distance. In June 2003, the City authorized the consultant to add an alternatc construction method for thc installation of thc force main: directional drilling Thc City awarded a construction contract for the open cut/boring installation of thc force main on March 23, 2004. A pre-construction conference will be scheduled in thc near future. Should you or Mr. Nelson have anymore concerns about the 2-foot separation distance, please feel free to contact Mr. Ted Sugg with Turner, Collie & Braden at 972-735-3048 Your consideration of this matter is appreciated and should you have any qucstions or need any additional information, please contact me at 972-304-7019.
