Figure ! shows an aerial photo p/an view of thc lake and adjoining rcsident/al subdivisions and streets. Figure 2 shows the lake and retaining wall stationed in 100 foot stations. Station 0'00 occurs at a temporary dike in thc channel and the stationing increases clockwise around the lake to the end of thc project at Station 134-40. The height of thc wall measured from the top to the toe of the wall is shown at each 100 foot station. The normal pool water level is shown on the figuxe, and is approximately 3 feet below the top of the wall. Hence, the submerged portion of the wall is the di fferenec between the wail height measurements ,'md the nominal 3 foot water level. In several places the rock faq:ade has broken along horizontal mortar joints and displaced vertically caused by deterioraticm ut'the shale foundation. The rock above the mortar joint remains intact. Locations where this has occurred are shown on Figure 2; i) 85 feet at Sta 0+25 to Sta 1+10 (approximate), ii) 2,1 feet at Sta 7+80, iii) 21 feet at Sta 11+00, and iv) 137 feet at Sta 11+30 to 124-67. Figure 3 shows tlne repair for this condinon, which consists of r;,,oving thc broken roc~ti___ng a may choose m salvage me ex~~~ Over the remainder of the wall, remediation of the rock faqade consists of constructing a continuous concrete foundation to prevent the occurrence of futuro failures. Figure 4 shows the requirements for constructing the new concrete The ~e approximate. Lowering and maintaining thc water lever will be the responsibility of the contractor performing this work. There currently exists a dike in the channel on the south end of the lake which was installed in December to lower the water level to investigate the facade failures. The material used to construct the dike is the property of the contractor who prov/ded the serv/ces to lower the water level, It shall be the contractor's responsibility to negotiate with the previous contractor for thc use of this material. All ,excavated material, excess mortar, stone, and every other excess material not X~used in thc construction of the project shall be removed and disposed offsite by the Udzl~zZ~g~ ii:bb 4b~J/a~ii GWC ENGINEERING P~GE i2/i8 SECTION01010 SUMMARY OF WORK (Con,hued) Additional miscellaneous repairs shall also include i) backfilling two voids located behind the retaining ~vall (Stations 0+62 and 1+58) with flowable fill and ii) removing silt and debris from the lake bottom directly in front of three small diameter storm drain pipes located below the water line (Stations l +58, 7+70, 10+92). Access to the lake and wall will be pe,,,itted from four locations identified on Figure 2: a) 50 foot wide constraction easement from Allen Road; b) 50 foot wide construction easement from Andover Lane; c) 20 foot wide construction easement from Aberdeen Court; d) 50 foot wide construction easement from the alley behind Woodlake Drive. The contractor will not be permitted to park veh/cles or store materials in the streets or alleys. All parking, material storage, and staging must be accomplished within the designated construction easements, or other areas if prior apl:n'oval is obtained. The contractor will be responsible for restoring the vegetation to original condition (full sodding w/th living grass) in thc access casements after construction is complete. The contractor vall be responsible for coordinating with the City of Coppell in and around City owned landscape irrigation pipes and heads. The contractor will be responsible for repmring broken landscape irrigation pipes and sprinkler heads resulting from the contractor's operations - if the irrigaion line is pressurized during the construction period, the repairs must be made immediately: if the irrigation line is not in use during the construct/on per/od, the repairs must bc made prior to final acceptance. A four foot high metal fence fully encloses thc lake with a gate at approximate Station 1+75. The contractor will be permitted to remove single panels in the metal fence for access conditioned upon the following: a) the removed panels must not be damaged and must bc safely stored and protected; b) the removed panels must be replaced when thc work ~s complete; c) upon replacement, the panels must be seal welded where they were cut, welds ground smooth, and repainted to match thc intact fence: d) the contractor must securely close the openings created by removing the fence panels with approved temp~ary construction fencing during the construction period and clearly Dost no-entry warning signs on the temporary fencing. The contractor shall be responsible for complying with all Federal (OSHA), State, and Municipal regulations and ordinances to assure safety of the general public at all times during construction.
