Dear Mr. Jones:
This letter is written as a follow-up to our meeting on April 15, 2004 concerning
waterline improvements in West Sandy Lake Road. After reviewing your proposal and
the Sandy Lake Road Waterline Plan for the 24" line constructed in 1998, and after
discussion with my Utility Department, the decision has been made to take the 10"
waterline out of service from Northpoint Drive east to Coppell Road North. To
accomplish that, the following items need to be completed:
The 10" waterline needs to be cut and plugged east of where the 12" waterline in
Northpoint ties into the existing 12" waterline at Sandy Lake Road. You should show
the existing 12" line on the west side of Northpoint Dr. that ties into the existing 12"
in Sandy Lake. If you do not have those plans, please let me know and they can be
provided to you.
2. Show an 8" stub offthe 24" waterline to the north at approximately Sta 26+25.
3. Show an 8" stub off the 24" waterline to the north at approximately Sta 38+50.
Show the existing 12" stubouts, both north and south, on the west side of State Road
at approximately Sta 42+25. You need to ensure that both of the existing stubouts are
extended adequately to be out from under the proposed paving.
5. You need to disconnect the existing 12" waterline to the north at approximately Sta
42+45 and reconnect it to the existing 12" stubout to the north at approximately Sta
42+25.
6. You need to disconnect the existing 10" service line to the church at approximately
Sta 46+80 and reconnect it to the existing 24" waterline.
7. You need to cut and plug the 8" waterline in Oakbend at approximately Sta 48+30
north of the existing 8" connection to the existing 24" waterline.
You need to cut and plug the 8" waterline in Branchwood at approximately Sta 52+30
north of the existing 8" co~mection to the existing 24" waterline. That location is
generally near the back-of-curb in the east radius of Branchwood.
In addition to the above items that need to be accomplished to take the existing 10" out of
service, the following two items also need to be shown as part of the construction of this
project:
1. You need to provide an 8" waterline stubout to the north from the existing I2"
waterline at approximately Sta 17+50.
2. You need to move the proposed 8" waterline stubout to the north from approximately
Sta 21 +90 to approximately Sta 26+30.
In reviewing these plans further with my Utility Department, it is highly likely that we
will also attempt to remove the existing 8" waterline from Coppell Road North to Denton
Tap Road during the construction of the east portion of West Sandy Lake Road. With the
construction of the 24" waterline in 1998, several stubouts and connections were made to
adjacent subdivisions to allow the City to take the existing 8" waterline out of service.
If you have any questions or need any additional information, or if you need to be
provided any construction plans related to the above matters, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Ken Griffin, P.E.,
Director of Engineering & Public Works
