Thank you for your letter and your concern regarding the
intersection of East Sandy ~.ake Road and Moore Street. It should
be noted that the roadway at this intersection consists of a single
travel lane in each direction with an unimproved shoulder area.
According to the state motor vehicle laws, it is permissible to
pass on the right (under certain circumstances) as long as it can
be done on a improved shoulder.
Sandy Lake Road is scheduled for future improvements which include
widening the roadway to include two lanes in each direction with
designated turn lanes. Your concerns regarding this intersection
have been relayed to the police patrol supervisor for an extra
watch regarding possible lane violations. I have also forwarded a
copy of your letter to Ken Griffin, the City Engineer, for his
information and review.
Thanks again for your concern.
Sincerely,
iller, Chief of Police
City of Coppell
