While City Council did award the project to MasTec, the discussion leading up to the award was quite lengthy and Council did request that the Engineering Department follow through on two additional items. Both are issues which we had previously discussed and received verbal commitments. However, Council has requested that these commitments be placed in writing. 1. It is my understanding that the operator of the equipment for this project will be Norman Tourney from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Council is requesting that we receive verification, in writing, that this employee will be the operator of the equipment for this project. 2. As we previously discussed, it would be advantageous to construct the improvements adjacent to the elementary school during the summer months. Not only did Council believe it would be beneficial, they also requested that the City require the section adjacent to the elementary school be installed during the surmner months of 2004. In essence, that would be the section from approximate Sra. 15+73.84 to approximate Sta. 27+00. This is the area that is immediately adjacent to the school. Because we had previously discussed these issues and it was my understanding that they were not of major consequence, I did state to Council that obtaining these commitments, in writing, would not be a problem. 255 PAREWAY 1~ PO BOX §478 ~- COPPELL TX ?S©l 9 ~ TEL 972/462 0022 ,k FAX 972/304 3673 I will be out of the office until May 24, 2004; however, contracts will be processed to you prior to that date.
