CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM PROJECT REQUEST
'ROJECT TITLE: Stream G-2 Drainage
(Plantation Dr. adjacent to Wynnpage)
TYPE: New [] Expansion [] Replacement X
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
(size, location, type of facility)
Currently, Stream G-2 exists from Plantation Drive to Bethel School Road with a concrete pilot channel and
grass side slopes. Portions of this area are maintained by adjacent property owners. This project is basically
at the northern portion of Stream G-2 where the stream turns a 90 degree angle from an easterly to a southerly
direction. Currently, there is erosion taking place in this area caused by the bend in the creek and from water
flowing from the north. There is a retaining wall along the nortbem edge, which is being compromised by
the on-going erosion in this area. This project would provide some rip-rap at the 90 degree bend in Stream
G-2 and also address some of the outfalls from the Shadowridge Subdivision into Stream G-2.
PROJECT JUSTIFICATION
Criteria Explanation
If the erosion continues there is a possibility that the retaining wall along the north side could be compromised
to the point where it fails. It currently is on the backside of an alley in Wynnpage Subdivision. The failure of
the wall could create some erosion and damage to the existing alley.
Consequences/Options
Several options could be looked at such as the rip-rapping of the turn and/or the rebuilding portions of the
existing retaining wall. The option of doing nothing leaves the potential for failure in the northern side
slopes of Stream G-2 that could create damage to the existing alley in Wynnpage Subdivision.
