RE: Brighton Manor (Falls at Westmont)
Dear Mr. Caruthers:
The detail of information on recently received geotechnical reports from Texas CMT
makes it impossible to ascertain the location(s) from which sample materials were taken
for analysis (see attached reports). There is no information related to the size of material,
whether the location was a utility line or what depth the material tested was from. Please
refer to the City of Coppell Standard Construction Details and Subdivision Ordinance.
The City of Coppell requests a site visit to verify questionable materials in which water,
sanitary sewer and storm drain lines have been placed, and to verify that densities in all
trench lines meet City of Coppell minimum standards. If you have any questions, please
contact me at (972) 304-3684.

Texas CMT technician was present on April 26, 2004 to observe trench backfill operations.
The folloWing oUtstanding observations were noted: ~ ~ :
1. C. Con Cooper was backfilling with Light Gray Shale & Dark Gray Shale in chunks up to
24"x12"x6" in water main line and water crossing.
2. There was no bedding material under the water line crossing. Line was laying on large
chunks of Dark Gray Shale.
3. Per COG specs, we recommended no rock fragments larger than six (6) inches be utilized as
utility trench backfill. Shale chunks should be mixed with enough fines to prevent voids.
