RE: Consideration and approval of extending the appointment of Council Members
Peyton Weaver, Lanny Mayo and Chairman William Rohloff of the Economic
Business and Development Board, to the Realignment of Beltline Road Study
Committee from July 31, 1993 until August 31, 1993.
Date: July 27, 1993
At the June 8, 1993 City Council meeting, the above mentioned two City Council members and
the Chairman of the Economic Business and Development Board were appointed to the Beltline
Road Study Committee to study the feasibility of realigning Beltline Road south between Moore
Road and MacArthur Blvd.
The committee will be unable to conclude its study by July 31st because we are currently
awaiting information from TH Electric on the cost for relocating the transmission lines on their
property. The lines will need to be relocated to accommodate the relocation of Beltline Road.
It is anticipated that TU Electric will provide the information to the City during the week of July
19th. Once the City has received the information, there will still need to be additional meetings
of the Beltline Road Study Committee and also additional meeting with the property owners to
ascertain the actual cost/benefit to the City for the realignment of Beltline Road.
I spoke to Bud Beene, Director of Public Works Dallas County, on July 14th concerning this
project and indicated to him that we still did not have a decision concerning the realignment of
Beltline Road. I know that the county is wishing to proceed with the design and once the
information has been obtained from TU Electric it is anticipated that the Study Committee could
expedite its review of the information and make a recommendation back to the City Council,
possibly at the August 24th City Council meeting or the September 14th meeting.
