Dear Ken:
The attached disk contains the Autocad drawing file for the plan view of
Sandy Lake Road from Denton Tap Road to MacArthur Boulevard including
the original four and six lane alignments along with the new revised 4 lane
alignment. This revised alignment has been designed to be constructed north
of the existing TU Electric transmission main in the south side of the Sandy
Lake Road right-of-way without requiring relocation of this main. This was
accomplished by using one 11' and one 14' travel lane in each direction and
limiting the normal north parkway 'Width to 10'. Attached for your use is a
list of layers used in the Autocad drawing file and an opinion of probable
construction cost for the revised four lane design.
Compared to the four lane preliminary design submitted, this alignment
requires less concrete pavement area, less right-of-way acquisition, and no
relocation of the existing TU Electric transmission main. However, this
alignment will require the construction of more r~ining walls and does not
allow the flexibility of expanding the roadway to six lanes in the future.
Should the City of Coppell choose to alter the plan for Sandy Lake Road to
this revised alignment, Rady & Associates will perform design services
associated with vertical and horizontal realignment of the roadway and utilities
to bring the plans through the preliminary stage for a fee of approximately
$130,500.00. The actual fee will be negotiated along with the scope of
services as a modification to our existing agreement with the City of Coppell
upon written notification that the City of Coppell has decided to pursue the
revised four lane alignment.
