Public l eeting L.'alleO to Kevlew sewer System Plan
As part of the upgrade to its
sanitary sewer system, the City
of Coppell has recently awarded
a contract to MasTec North
America, Inc. to install a new
sanitary sewer force main in the
median of MacArthur Boule-
yard from Deforest Road to Vil-
lage Parkway.
At Village Parkway, the main
will proceed in an easterly di~
rection to the city's pump sta-
tion and then proceed southerly
across Sandy Lake Road to the
existing sanitary sewer lift sta-
tion, behind the vacant shopping
center at the southeast comer of
MacArthur and Sandy Lake
Road. The technique that the
con!ractor will be utilizing on this
project is directional drilling, se-
lected over the open-cut method
to minimize the impact on exist-
ing trees and landscaping within
the median. A trade-off is that
the equipment associated with

rectional drilling is quite large and
at times noisy.
l'he City has scheduled a neigh-
borho0d meeting for Saturday, June
19, from 10:00 a.m. until noon for
citizens to visit the site to view and
hear the equipment and discuss the
overall logistics of the project.
Construction will begin June
2004 and continue through March
2005. Motorists should expect de-
lays and seek alternate routes.
