As part of thc upgrades to our sanitary sexvcr system, the City of CoppelI has recently
awarded a contract to MasTec North America, Inc. to install a new sanitary sewer force
mare in the median of MacArthur Blvd. from Delbrcst Road to Village Parkway. At
Village Parkway, it will proceed in an easterly direction to the city's pump station, and
then proceed southerly across Sandy Lake Road to the existing sanitary' sewer lift station,
behind the vacant shopping center at the southeast comer of MacArthur and Sandy Lake.
The technique that the contractor will be utilizing on this prqiect is directional drilling. The
directional drilling option was selected, over the open-cut method, to minimize the impact
on existing trees and landscaping within the median. The trade off is that the equipment
associated with directional drilling is quite large and at times noisy.
Therefore, the city has scheduled a neighborhood meeting for Saturday, June I9, 2004
fi'om 10:00 a.m. until noon for citizens to visit the job site to view and hear the equipment,
and to discuss tlne overall logistics of the project.
