Suzan,
I've been looking at the design of the sewer line replacement in Coppell Rd and have a question for you. The
existing sewer from Bethel Rd to the creek currently flows to the north and includes an aerial crossing at the
creek. I've attached a sketch of the area to show the area I am asking about. To keep the existing sewer
drainage pattern, it will be necessary to construct a new crossing that will be ~60' long. This crossing will also will
be a maintenance problem since there won't be much more than 6-12" of open space below the pipe.
I would like to propose replacing this line and making it drain towards the south. This would eliminate the need for
the crossing, which could save about $50,000 and eliminate a maintenance problem. There is an existing
manhole in Bethel Road that the sewer could be connected to. Is there someone in the utilities group that knows
the sewers in that area well? If so, could they tell me if there is enough elevation difference between the existing
main and the services to allow the proposed main to be raised? The only sewer service that shows up in our
survey is to one of the City buildings, but there are several additional water meters which leads me to believe that
there might be sewer services with them. The proposed line would probably have to be raised about 1' at the
service labeled in the sketch, and about 2' at the south side of the creek. Do the TV records of the existing line
show other services? Would it be possible for someone to pothole any services at the property lines so I can look
at the elevation difference?
Let me know if this sounds like it is a viable option. Please call me if you have any questions.
