RE: Floodplain Development
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Pluemer:
It has recently come to my attention that the pool and retaining wall referenced in Floodplain
Development Permit # 031212HA dated December 12, 2003 has been constructed. The permit
issued for the pool and retaining wall very clearly stated that a copy of the actual plans must be
provided to the Engineering Department and that certified plans and/or as-built plans must be
submitted to the Floodplain Administrator.
As of today, no plans have been submitted to the Engineering Dept. However, it is my
understanding that the construction has taken place. The permit provided to you on December
12, 2003 basically relocated the floodplain along the rear of your property. It was relocated
approximately 20' on the west property tine and approximately 40' on the east property line. All
activity was to take place north of that proposed relocated floodplain line.
The purpose of submitting the plans to Engineering was to ensure that the improvements were
proposed to be constructed north of the relocated floodplain line. The purpose of submitting the
as-built drawings to the Floodplain Administrator, also located in the Engineering Department,
was to ensure that the actual construction took place outside the limits of the relocated
floodplain.
With this letter I am again requesting that detailed information be provided to the Engineering
Department for our records and to ensure that the City is in compliance with Federal guidelines
on floodplain development. That information should be submitted to my office as soon as
