MEMORANDUM
Kenneth M. Griffin, Assistant City Manager/City Engineer
Sandy Lake Road Public Meeting July 25, 1994
July 27, 1994
The following items were raised at the public meeting and need to be addressed when the
preliminary plans are presented to City Council:
There is still an issue as to whether or not a median should be provided at Dobecka
Drive. The issue was raised in regards to the fact that Nash, South Holly and the
driveway to Minyards Shopping Center all have median openings. We need to take traffic
counts at Minyards Shopping Center driveway and Dobecka Drive to ascertain the traffic
flow on a twenty-four hour basis.
A question was raised about the fact that the City did not consider building a roadway
without medians. I need to research information to show that the medians have always
been presented to the citizens as part of this project through both mailouts prior to the
voting in 1990 and through the 1991 Thoroughfare Master Plan and the previous Master
Plan.
Location of the TU transmission lines. Need to review the letter from Kirk King that
contained the cost. Provide that in the agenda item and seek Council recommendation
on the location of the power poles.
Why is the City is building left mm lanes to serve the undeveloped commercial property
at the northeast comer of Sandy Lake an Denton Tap. This is basically a minor cost
rolled into the project at this point. I have no opinion as to whether or not the City
should or should not build it. However, if the City does not build it at this time, it
would again disrupt traffic in the future when it is constructed to serve developed
property at that corner.
