Deforest Road Lift Station Improvements Forcc Main Lincs "A" & "B"
City of Coppell, Texas
During the review of our project file for the above referenced project, we noticed that
we've not received any kind of acknowledgement from the City of Coppell regarding the
acceptance of the change from D.I.P. installed by bore & open-cut to HDPE pipe
installed by directional drill. At your earliest convenience, please acknowledge your
agreement with your consultant Engineer's response to R.F.I. No. 1 and that the no
additional cost change is acceptable and that the HDPE pipe sections will be paid for as if
the ductile iron pipe was installed. A copy of your Engineer's response is attached for
your reference.
Should you have any questions or require additional information, please do not hesitate to
call.

Horizontal Dirertional Drilling
It is TCB's opinion the reque~ tbr ~he proposed alternate construction method of HDPE by
directional drilling for the thr~e sections is technically acceptable provided the following conditions
are met: ' '

Downsizing of Bored Steel..Casin~.lD.iameter/ I ~
]'CB has nO object/on to dox, msiz/ng &the bored steel casing diameter as proposed by 'axe:
Contractor, with the understanding that the Contractor assumes thll respons~ility for thc more
diflicult installation in smaller casing.
The total amount of the savings, as calculated by S.J. Louis, is $13,420. The proposed split of 1/3 of
r. he total savings to the City, 1/3 to S.J. Louis, and l/3 to the subcontractor is not acceptable. The
City should receive one-half of the total savings ($6,710), or the diameters of the steel casings shall
remain 36-inches and 48-inches. Please acknowledge acceptance of the revised savings.
