The flowable RII mix tot the Wate~ Line "W-2" uti~ trench back~l of the referenced project is a 28-
day compressive streng/h 0£500 p.s.i. (see aUached batch design submittal from Nelson Bros. Ready
I~ Ltd., dated July 2, 2004). This till mix was pla~ed by the Contractor, North Texas Contras'ting,
Inc., on July 28, 2004, and August 2, 3, 4, and 5, 2004 (see attached batch tickets).
Samples by our testing lab, Team Consuhents, Ino., consisting ofthrse (3) cylinders were taken at
Station 2+00 on August 4, 2004 with the 7-Day Break ofl00 p.s.i, on August 11, 2004 (see attached
Team Reports). The 28-Day Breaks for the two (2) rema~ cylinde~ ate ached, led for Septemba'
1, 2004. Pa' Lany Davis, Coppell's Construction Inspector, a 2/3 strength of the minimum 500 p.s,i.
design compressive strength (maximum 1,200 p.s.i.) is required prior to the asphalt overlay work.
Per & site meetin8 on Tuesday, August 17, 2004, between North Texas Contracting the City of
Coppell, Team Consultants, and Dallas County, four (4) cores each were sampled same date ~om
tl~e (3) separate lotions with Average Cylinder Breaks taken ~ follows (see attached Team tests):

Per our discussion Friday, August 20, 2004, North Texas Contra~ng may proceed with the asphalt
overlay work (respective water line pressure and bacte~ological tests have passed / been accepted).
Continsent upon the flowable flips Average Cylinder Breaks meeting the minimum 28-Day
compreseive strength orS00 p.s.i., Dallas County shall either:
require an exlemion of the two (2) year Comractor's Performance Bond, or
negotiate with the Contractor a reduction in the Total Unit Price for Bid Item No. I-?,
Flowable Backfill.
