Standing water
Scott & Jennifer,
Thank you for your email regarding standing water on Oakcrest & Sandy Oak. You are absolutely correct
that this has been an ongoing problem. I have met with Ken Griffin, Director of Engineering & Public
Works regarding the problem. Ken advises that we will have staff in the area taking elevations to
determine the extent of grading that must take place to solve the problem. You should see some activity
within a few weeks.
It is important to know that to solve the problem it will be necessary to do some fairly extensive grading
along the ditch line running southward toward Meadowcreek. With that in mind, staff will be in touch with
the homeowners living adjacent to the roadway to inform them of the work plans prior to the
commencement of any work. It is quite possible that homeowner improvements such as mail boxes,
retaining walls, drive approaches and sidewalks will be removed as a part of the work, We will certainly
make any repairs to drive approached and sidewalks necessary to reconnect those improvements to the
roadway. However, retaining walls and other obstructions to the natural flow of water may not be allowed
to be reconstructed. I tell you all of this because we want everyone to be informed about all of the issues
involved in making the drainage improvements.
I have taken the liberty of filing your complaint on our on-line citizen relationship management software,
C2. Please take the time to look at this offering of the City. The program allows citizens to file their
requests for service on-line, The request is then sent electronically to the appropriate department and a
work order is electronically generated, The citizen can track the progress of their request once they have
registered as a MyCoppell user, All of this can be done easily from our homepage found at
www.ci.coppell.tx,us under the MyCoppell tab or the Request for Service tab. We offer this option as a
fairly new, effective and very efficient process for citizen requests for service and complaint resolution.
You also mention at least one other issue where we have failed to meet your expectations as far as our
service delivery or resolution to problems is concerned. I would be more than happy to discuss any other
outstanding issues with you. Please feel free to contact me directly should you wish to discuss further.
