Repainting of the 1.5 Million Gallon Elevated Tank
Gentlemen:
This letter follows our telephone conversation with you today in wlftch you explained Advantage Contract
Services, Inc. had in fact scheduled to "power up" the motor operated valve on Tuesday, July 25, 2000. That
same morning the City was required to indefinitely postponed your work due to an emergency condition with
the water system. We have reviewed this situation with the City' s water utilities personnel and have
confirmed that is the case.
We did not know this information when we published the City' s directive dated July 31, 2000 ordering you to
suspend all work on the project. July 21, 2000 was set as the date in which the surety company would be
notified, and of as of today's date the work at the project remains incomplete. However, given the
circumstances that have recently come to light the contract default determination and directive to suspend all
work is hereby postponed until the end of the working day, Monday, August 7, 2000.
A final walk through is scheduled for Monday, August 7, 2000 at 4:00 p.m. to verify your completion of all
items on the published punch list. If the City finds the project is incomplete in any respect, the determination
of contract default and the directire to suspend all work will then be in effect immediately.
In order to avoid this type of confusion in the coming week, we remind you that critical coordination efforts
involving the City should be communicated with our office. In addition, please keep this our office informed
of your work progress.
By copy of this letter, the City of Coppell is hereby notifying Ms. Cheryl Humphrey of the Southern
American Insurance Agency, Inc. of the postponement of the contract default determination. If you have any
questions or need additional direction, please do not hesitate to contact this office.
