RE: Near Surface Groundwater at Brighton Manor ( Falls at Westmont )
Mr. Davis:
A meeting was held on August 6~ at the City of Coppell to discuss the issue of groundwater at Brighton
Manor ( The Falls at Westmont ). The meeting was attended by City of Coppell construction inspector
Larry Davis, City of Coppell engineer Keith Marvin, the project geotechnical engineer Richard Gee, the
project construction manager, Rodney Louvier and myself, the project engineer. The source of the
groundwater was discussed with two main possibilities considered. One possible source was the
abandoned water well, which has been recently capped, and the second was a natural spring. It was
decided that the immediate course of action would be to further determine the extent of the near surface
groundwater by conducting additional borings in nearby locations. Based on the findings from these
borings, a drainage system will be designed to collect and pipe the groundwater to the nearest inlet.
Sincerely,
Scott D. Caruthers, P.E.
