FYI - The 28-day compressive strength breaks for the flowable backfill
are due:

I have not contacted our testing lab, Team, because the last cylinder
break is this Saturday. Next week we can assess the end result (as
noted in the attached letter dated 08/23/2004) and discuss any other
issues.
Per the construction contract, Item No. 1-7, Flowable Backfill, has an
estimated extension amount of $28,000 of which this estimate (#3)
includes $15,440 for payment. The quantities and respective extension
amounts in Estimate #3 are not Final.
FYI - Our contractor, North Texas Contracting (NTC), has completed
items totalling construction costs of $128,145.14 through Estimate #3
from a total construction contract of $175,547.00. Dallas County has
paid NTC for Estimates #1 & 2 totalling $39,562.52.

We are in receipt of Estimate No. 3. Everything seems to be in order
with the contract documents and pay items. However, Larry Davis has
expressed concern about paying this estimate prior to resolving the
issue related to the strength requirements of the flowable fill. We
recently received the mix designs for the flowable fill and saw that
fly
ash was used. We have not allowed the use of fly ash as a replacement
material in our cement. We did not receive the mix designs prior to
placement of this material.
Larry thinks that a meeting needs to be held with Coppell and Dallas
County staff to resolve the issue over the apparent Iow psi. To this
date, we feel that we may not have received all of the test reports
related to this issue. Larry will be unavailable from September 5 to
the 14 and he would like to resolve this issue prior to September 3.
