ST9602-CS040421Ken Griffin- CMAQ P10 P~ge ! i From: To: Date: Subject: "Craig Goodroad" <CGoodroad@dallascounty.org> <kgriffin@ci.coppell.tx.us> 4/21/2004 8:22:44 AM CMAQ P10 Ken, I have been in contact with TxDOT and they are working through the previously sent six issues regarding changes and increase of costs to the above project located in your City. I mentioned that we need to get this project moving ahead and completed. Line item 1. The plans stated to use (10) 10' sections and the contractor bid (2) 45' sections which puts it about 10' short. I asked the question to TxDOT why can't we hold the contractor responsible for the Iow bid and his mistake especially when the design called out for that. Any additional Costs are still to be determined. Line item 2. The plans in no way called out to have this road shut down for any period of time for the grade crossing. I mentioned to TxDOT that I would like to have this construction be completed without any road closure. The contractor bid estimate was to do the two northbound lanes and then complete the two southbound lanes and no where does he state the need to close the road. The costs for this line item I believe will be taken care by the contractor for any extra traffic control items. TxDOT is talking to the railroad contractor. Line item 3. TxDOT area Engineer reviewed and at this time will tell the contractor who is doing the grade crossing to replace at grade level as it is today. We will only improve the one lane we are adding at this time. We will see if any changes is necessary after the crossing is put in. Line item 4. The additional costs for the Road brick pavers will be billed materials plus 25%; the extra charge is being reevaluated because it seems to me that the 990.00 is high. Line 5. The new grade crossing may not conform to ADA, see item 3. The contractor should put it back as it is today. TxDOT will need to make that call if needed. At this time I don't think there is a need for a meeting to discuss these issues. I will be in contact with you for any additional funds are needed but as of now I believe all is being taken care with the exception of line item 4 and the possibility of line item 1, your overpayment is more then enough to cover item 4 at this time. Thanks and call me if you have any questions. Craig J.
