Re: West Sandy Lake Road Project # ST 99-02
Dear Mr. Hoist:
This letter is written in response to our telephone conversation today concerning the removal of
trees adjacent to the Oakbend Subdivision. You stated that the construction plans showed the
removal of all trees adjacent to the Oakbend Subdivision and that it was the Homeowner's
Association desire to transplant several of the trees prior to the road construction beginning. I am
unsure which trees you are proposing to transplant, but our latest plans, dated August 2004, show
that we have realigned the sidewalk adjacent to 101 Branchwood Trail and 102 Oakbend Drive in
an attempt to save approximately seven trees in that general area. In addition to relocating the
sidewalk, the plans also call for the construction of a retaining wall. Because the road is in a 'cut'
in that area, the retaining wall would be necessary to keep from cutting around the tree roots to
preserve the trees.
The latest construction plans call for the removal of the trees adjacent to 100 Branchwood Trail and
103 Oakbend Drive. With this letter, I have provided you copies of Sheets 17, 18 and 19 of the
latest construction plans. Based on the latest construction plans, it is our goal at this time to attempt
to preserve the trees between Branchwood Trail and Oakbend Drive adjacent to west Sandy Lake
Road.
Hopefully, this information is helpful to you and if you have any additional questions please feel
free to contact me.
Sincerely, ,-
Kenneth M. Griffin, P.E.
