Coppell/121 Off Pk-CS041022From Kumar Subramaniam 815 Mullrany Dr, Coppell, TX - 75019 Engineering Department City of Coppell Coppell Date: October 22, 2004 Sub: This is related to the construction work going on behind my place of residence. Sir, I live at $15 Mullrany Drive. There is some construction work taking-place behind my house (between Highway 121 and my house). My property is at about eight feet above the highway level, and the land used to have a gradual slope from the highway to my property. In order to construct the new building, the company has dug up a lot of soil behind my property and now we have an 8 feet drop in the land right outside our property (Photographs attached). The first set of photos were taken in September (around 15 September 2004) when they had completed digging and had just started laying the groundwork. I spoke to Mr. Keith Marvin at Engineering, and expressed my concerns about the drop. He inspected the site, spoke to the Engineers and informed me that the Construction Company would build a retaining wall next to my property so that the soil does not slide down. It has been a month since then, and we have had some rains during that time but we do not have the wall yet. The second set of photos was taken on October 2l, 2004. They show the damage that has already happened to my property because of the construction work. I have since spoken to Mr. Keith Marvin and Mr. Garreth Campbell in Engineering several times regarding this issue and have received assurances that the wall will be built. But nothing has happened yet. I spoke to a Superintendent at the Construction Company (Mr. Mike Wilcher) and was assured that they would start working on the wall soon. With prospects of rain again this weekend, I am worried my compound wall would fall off before the company gets-around to building the retaining wall. Further delays could cause even more damage to my property. If my compound wall falls down before the company fixes the issue, who is responsible for the damage? Is there any way to resolve this issue xvithout much property damage? Is there anyone at the company I need to speak to'? I appreciate all the help from the city engineers, and would like to get this issue resolved peacefully. Thanks Kumar Subramaniam
