Pavement Subgrade

Submitted heroin are results of our analysis of the pavement subgrade at the above referenced
site. The exposed pavement subgrade was sampled and three (3) typical subgrade samples were
obtained. Atterberg-limit tests were performed on three (3) of the samples and a lime series was
performed on the most plastic material. Results of the Atterberg-limit tests and the lime series are
attached to this report.
Based on visual observation of the exposed pavement subgrade, results of the Atterberg-limit
tests and lime series and minimum requirements of the City of Coppell, it is recommended that
the subgrade along all streets be stabilized with a minimum of 30 lbs. per square yard of hydrated
lime for 6 inch thick compacted depth. The recommended rate of application is based on a dry
unit weight of 100 pcf (by ASTM-D698) typical for calculations in the absence of proctor results.
All mechanical stabilization should be performed in general compliance with the City of Coppell
Standards and Specifications.
