Dear Robert,
As you are awism the D.W.U. water mein is in conflict with our 60" RCP. On 7 -29-98 the
conflict was confirmed and brought to the attention of all parties concerned Initially, a quick and
reasonable solution was hoped for. To date, there has been no decision made. As of neon today,
NTC will have done all work possible and will have to look at our alternatives.
The engineer has proposed two alternate solutions. Between alternate solution 01 and 02. NTC's
preference would be alternate solution k2. Alternate solution 81 changes the overall some of
work. This solution does not allow room for use of a trench box between the RCP and the 30"
water line. In addition, NTC is vary concerned about safety and the integrity of the 30" water
main. If this method is used. NTC requests that the engineer deign a method for protecting the
existing water main. At that point and time, NTC will price this change in accordance with the
new means/methods required to do the work. NTC can not insult the 60" RCP, under these
conditions, for the unit price bid. Once spin, NTC's !Hain concern is the safety of our personnel,
and the preservation of the existing 30" water main.
Alternate solution tie would not require redesign of trench safety, or changing our method of
installation.
This urgency of this matter requires immediate attention. Starting today, NTC will start incurring
losses from downtime, lost production, lost profits, and the fact that NTC may have to demobil ire
and leave the project. At present, NTC is not seeking compensation for any tosses. however,
NTC requests that an additional 4 working days be added to our contract time.
