RE: Swale between Lois 9 & 10, Block C ( Falls at Westmont )
Mr. Marvin:
As you are aware, thc Groundwater Investigation for Brighton Manor prepared September 17, 2004,
by Gee Consultants, Inc. noted a wet spot in the swale between lots 9 & 10, Block C. Since no
borings were taken at this location, the source of the water was not confirn~ed as groundwater.
During a recent field evaluation of this swale, Rodney Lotlviere and nwself observed a ',vet spot btlt
also noted that the swale Js not graded correctly and consequently a Iow area exists where surface
runoff gets trapped. To eliminate groundwater as the IikeJy source, ~wo holes were dug along the
swale and left open. The open holes were observed 3 hours later and there was no change in the
moisture condition of the soil at the bottom of the hole. This leads us to believe lhe s~t~rce of the
wet spot to be sm[ace runoff that get trapped in the swale. Therefore, based on our field evaluation,
it is my opinion that regrading the swale will be sufficient to eliminate the wet condition and that a
trench drain system is not needed belvveen rots 9 8, 10, Block C.
Sincerely,
Scott D Caruthels, P.E.
