The turn lane was originally disrupted when the contractor relocated a 16" water line in this area last year. Both of these water lines come directly from our pump station and are critical in supplying water to the City. There is also a 30" Dallas water line in the same location that relocation will begin on later this year. With all the construction in this intersection it is difficult, if not impossible, to maintain the referenced turn lane. The City's contractor is also installing a 30" water line down Kimbel Court. The contractor has been instructed that Kimbel must be reopened by the start of school on August 21,2000. Additionally, on May 9, 2000, the City Council approved a change order that includes the reconstruction of the entire MacArthur / Sandy Lake intersection and extends the project to Kimbel Court. The reconstruction of the intersection will take about 4 to 5 months once they start and will impact traffic, as at a minimum we will need to reduce MacArthur to one lane each way to allow for the reconstruction. If you would like to discuss these items in more detail, please contact me at 972-304-3686. Ken Griffin, P.E. Director of Engineering & Public Works >>> <TeamZ13@aol.com> 07/17 9:19 PM >>> Since the shutdown of Kimbel Court, the backup on Sandy Lake from the east has become much worse. Traffic was not so bad when the turning lane on Sandy Lake to go north on MacArthur was suitable for use. The lane was torn up when a pipeline was installed and it was never repaired. Kimbel Court has been used as an alternative for those traveling north on MacArthur. Is there any way to get at least a temporary repair of this lane to make it usable again? I think it would help the congestion. Thanks. Rob Chomiak 710 Clayton Circle Coppell
