This letter is written to request reimbursement to the City of Coppell for monies paid duc to ~
error in the design of Sandy Lake Road. On Sheet 44a there is a 3-foot drop inlet shown at
Station 15+40. That drop inlet is at the entrance to lateral 7a. Sheet 68 shows that the top of
drop inlet should be at an elevation of 503.5. The contractor constructed the inlet per the plans.
However, once constructed, the inlet was approximately 3 feet higher than the adjacent ground,
thereby restricting the flow of water into the inlet causing water to stand in the general area. The
ponded water caused damage to landscaping at 191 Chaucer Court (see copy of attached letter).
The City of Coppell has already incurred a cost of $2500 to remove portions of the inlet as
designed by your firm and to replace it with an inlet that works with the existing terrain. The
City of Coppell has also issued a check to cover landscaping damages in the amount of $509.65
to Stacey Blateri at 191 Chaucer Court. Because the contractor built the inlet as designed by
your firm and because the construction of that inlet created damages on the adjacent property, the
City of Coppell is requesting that you reimburse the City for the amount of those damages.
Therefore, a check in the amount of $509.65 should be provided to the City of Coppell.
If you should have any questions or need any additional information please feel free to contact me
at your convenience.
Sincerely,
Kenneth . , P.E.
