The existing two-lane asphalt road will be replaced with a four-lane divided roadway. Right-of-way acquisition for the roadway portion, from the west city limits to east of Freeport Parkway is complete. A 95% complete set of plans and a Right-of-Way Use Perrnit are enclosed. Verizon Communications submitted a permit for the utility relocations on this project in June 2003. Please review the plans to ensure that your relocation plans are still current and complete a new permit form for submittal to the city. Utility relocations can be initiated upon approval of the pen:nit. The channel improvements are generally outside of the roadway improvements. They begin east of Freeport Parkway and south of Bethel Road and extend in a northeasterly direction. A new four-barrel box culvert will be constructed across an unimproved section of Bethel Road as part of this project. The city is working with the project consultant on the design of the channel and with the United States Corps of Engineers on obtaining a permit for the construction. Plans will be forwarded to you once they are complete. One parcel of right-of-way will need to be acquired for the channel construction.
