Dear Mr. Branum:
I am writing as a follow-up to our discussions regarding the damage to the Coppell Independent
School District's (CISD) fiber optic network. In order for the City to proceed in processing this
issue appropriately, the CISD will need to submit a formal claim regarding this incident.
This claim should be directed to Mr. Jim Witt, City Manager at the city of Coppell. Included in the
claim should be a detailed, itemized invoice of the services provided by CAPCO Communications
to restore the network. This level of detail is necessary for us to maintain contractual obligations
between the city of Coppell and MASTEC, our contractor of record on the project.
Once the city of Coppell receives the claim from the School District, we will process that claim
directly to MASTEC with instructions for them to make payment to CISD, or settle the issue with
the District within a 15-day period. Should MASTEC fail to do so, we ask that the CISD
immediately notify the city of Coppell. At that time we will entertain making payment for all
reasonable costs borne by the School District to make the repairs to your network.
