Sandy Lake Road Reconstruction
Coppell Project #: ST 93-02
Kimley-Horn Project #: 06940600
DWU Project #: 98-311F
Dear Mr. Grif£m:
As requested, we have reviewed our previously submitted prices for the reconstruction of the MacArthur Road and
Sandy Lake Road intersection as shown on the set of plans dated October 29, 1999. Our revised prices for the work
identified on that set of plans are enclosed for your review and approval. We have not quoted the four street light
poles because the light poles on the remainder of the project will be done by others; however, we have quoted the
conduit for the street lights. Because of the phased nature of the intersection, coordination of the conduit
installation in the intersection will be more efficient utilizing an EBCC subcontractor rather than by waiting for a
TXU subcontractor: AdditionallY, we'have omitted the 2" HMAC transition pavement and modified the lime
stabilization from six'inche~ to eight inches based upOfi ~ohr dffcCtioh. --.' ' ~ ...... . ..~
As discussed in our meeting on April 25, 2000, the higher cost associated with this work is duc solely to thc nature
of the intersection. As you are well aware, this intersection is heavily traveled and cannot be closed to complete the
work; therefore, the excavation, lime stabilization, and concrete paving will need to be completed in four to six
phases. Our current project doesn't contain an intersection of that nature and is a relatively "clean" project when
compared to the work associated with the MacArthur/Sandy Lake intersection.
It is our intent to install as much of the storm sewer and sanitary sewer as possible before closing any portion of the
intersection. We would then concentrate our efforts on the two eastern quadrants of the intersection with each
quadrant taking four to six weeks to complete. We will need an additional 120 calendar days to complete this work.
If you have any questions regarding this infoxxnation, don't hesitate to contact our office.
