Problems with standing water bordering my property - 232 E Bethel
John Elias-
I understand that~',~was responsible for the creek dredging on the one side of E Bethel and Penuel.
While I guess the goal was to free debris from one side Bethel to ensure proper drainage of the creek,
what has happened is that the dredging seems to have caused a blockage in the creek adjoining my
property at 232 E Bethel. I have standing water at my property line now, so it seems that the problem has
just moved from one side of Bethel Road to the other.
As well as being unsightly, this standing water ~s serving as a health hazard to my family. It will provide a
breeding ground for mosquitoes. The work has stirred scorpions, who have come into my home, The
Pest Control technician who came out to spray to help eradicate the s~cOr~E2Lg_n__s found a wa~ter moccasi_n_ on
my property While all of this may be coincidental, I find it hard to believe that our problems with
water-loving pests have been a coincidence, occurring only after this work to the creek has been done I
have twin 4 year old children. I would hate to think that their health is compromised because of
incomplete city-sponsored work.
Also, my husband has told me that he's called the city several times to get a commitment to fix broken
sprinkler lines on our property that were a direct result of the work being done on the creek. He's been
told~~es will be fixed. Our question is: when? We're at the point of having the repairs done and
sending the city a bill, since it doesn't seem to be a priority to anyone but us,
I am most concerned about the health hazard of the standing water adjacent to my property. When will
that be cleared?
