Subject: Power Line Delay
Dear Mr. Griffin,
Can-Far Construction Company request a time extension for the delay cause by moving the
power line On this project. Can-Far Construction Company has been working with TXU even
before a contract was signed to expedite the moving of the power lines on this project. Below is
the time line of the delay.
Can-Far construction began working on moving the power lines on October 26. 2004, by
having our electrical contractor fill out a Icad sheet and submitting it to TXU to start the
process of get the power lines moved.
October 27, 2004 TXU provided TPC Electrical with an exact cost to move the power
lines.
October 29, 2004 Can-Far Construcilon Company receives a signed contract from the
City of CoppelL
November 1,2004 Can-Far Construction Company issues TPC Electrical subcontract.
Attend Pre-Construction meeting November 11, 2004 and after meeting have an onsite
meeting with TXU, City of Coppall, TPC Electrical end Can-Far Construction Company to
determine locations of poles, TPC Electrical gives TXU approval to start with relocating
poles. TXU schedules task in there schedule.
November 22, 2004 receive notice to proceed.
December 14, 2004 poles are set. TXU has to request a power outage/clearance with
ERCOT.
)~ January 12, 2005 TXU receives clearance from ERCOT and TXU fine[ moves power
lines.
> January 13, 2005 waiting for Cable Company to move their cable lines.
Can-Far Construction Company recognizes that the moving of the power lines is part of contract,
but there is no way that we could have foreseen that this would have used 51 calendar days for
this projeCt, Even thought this Is part of the contract getting the clearance from ERCOT was out of
Can-Far Construction Company control. Can-Far Construction Company has tried to accelerate
this part of the project as much as possible that is why Can-Far Construction Company began
working on this item even before we had a signed contract, Can-Far Construction Company
requested that the 51 days that we have been delayed by this issue be added back to the project
schedule. Aisc out of these 51 days 27 % of them have been weather days.
Sincerely,
Todd C Heft
