I have spoken to Fire Chief Bob Kruse about access to this area once Sandy Lake is complete. First response is from the fire station on MacArthur. They would be heading west and just turn right on Meadowglen. Second response is from the fire station on Parkway. They would be heading east on Parkway and just turn right on Meadowglen. Neither the first nor the second response would encouter the median on Sandy Lake. You can contact the Fire Chief at 972-304-3500. In response to your other issue concerning routing traffic down Meadowrun, the City held numberous Public Meetings on Sandy Lake and presented all the plans at the Council meetings for approval. We did have a difficult job trying to provide access to the various subdivisions. Because of the way that the Woodridge subdivision is developed, we needed to provide a median opening to access that area at Mapleleaf. Meadowglen is offset from Mapleleaf such that it is not possible, especially from a safety standpoint, to provide a median opening at Meadowglen. Therefore, to access the Meadows, we needed to provide a median opening at Meadowrun. The following represents some key dates associated with Sandy Lake: June 22, 1993 Council awarded design contract / September 30, 1993 public meeting concerning access along Sandy Lake / November 1, 1993 conceptual design presented to Council ! December 14, 1993 Council approval of conceptual plans ! July 25, 1994 public meeting on roadway design ! August 23, 1994 approval of preliminary plans by Council / September 27, 1994 delay of project by Council due to TU powerlines / October 24, 1995 Council approval of new conceptual plans with road shifted north / March 26, 1996 Council approval of revised preliminary plans with road shifted north / August 25, 1998 Council award of construction project / October 19, 1998 construction began. The above represents key opportunitys for the discussion of access along Sandy Lake. Overall, there were 5 public meetings and 20 Council items associated with Sandy Lake. Access could have been discussed at any one of those meetings. We believe that every opportunity was given for input and also that the design as proposed is the best for all concerned. I am sorry that you disagree with the design. If you should have any other concerns please feel free to contact me. Ken Griffin >>> "Chad Cross" <wccl@flash.net> 03/30 11:26 AM >>> Dear Ken, My name is Chad Cross and I live at 821 Leslie Lane in Coppeil and I am very unhappy with the proposed Sandy Lake Road Paving Sequence. I feel that your current plan will unfairly dump incoming and outgoing traffic into The Meadows past my home. I am also concerned that emergency vehicles needing to get to Meadow Glenn from Sandy Lake Road will be encounter unnecessary delays by having to tum on Meadow Run. I would like to see a paving sequence that would balance traffic in and out of The Meadows. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look foreword to hearing from you.
