Dear Mike,
Thank you for helping to facilitate the coordination of interim service during the
shutdown. As we discussed, the City of Coppell is seeking a supplemental water
supplier to provide interim water service to Flower Mound and Lewisville. Since
these cities are current customers of the District, then it seems likely that
UTRWD is in the best position to provide this service.
The DWIJ water line must be shut down in order to complete the lowering of
certain portions necessitated by the reconstruction of Sandy Lake Road. The shut
down is planned to occur sometime in February and the line returned to service
by the end of March. As a contingency, we are planning for supplemental
service through April.
Flower Mound currently receives water from DWU via a connection on their east
side. We have asked Flower Mound for their anticipated DWU monthly flows
through April as well as for any other criteria they may have for the shut down
and for a confirmation accepting the temporary transfer of service.
Lewisville maintains their connection as an emergency back-up supply. They
have no monthly flow requirements. We have asked for a confirmation accepting
the temporary transfer of service.
It is my understanding that construction is underway of the UTRWD plant
expansion. This work will require some very short shutdowns. However, with
planning and the full use of storage, these shutdowns should not have an adverse
impact upon the customers.

Please confirm that UTRWD can provide the supplemental service on an interim
basis, provide a list of information that is needed from Flower Mound and
Lewisville, and a contact person for coordinating the service switch over.
