We are currently having failure (cave-in) problems with the pit work for the new DeForest Road Lift Station. The
lift station contractor's engineer has revisited the site and is reviewing their shoring design. We have asked the lift
stalion contractor to cease work until the shoring plan has been modified. The contractor agreed.
One problem tha! is complicatiog this issue is that the force main contractor (Mastec) is on the lift station site trying
to complete their drilling so they can pull pipe. Mastec believcs that with any luck they could pull pipe this
weekend. I havc authorized them to work this weekend and potentially pull pipe on Sunday. We do not like to have
them working on Sunday but it is importm~t that they pull their pipe and get their equipment offthe lift station site so
the cave-in issue can be adequately addressed.
