To MacArthur Blvd. Dear Mr. Allison: We have reviewed your latest plan on the above project and attached is a list of comments for your consideration. Als0, we are attaching a copy of a letter based on our discussion with GHA, Inc. regarding cover requirements and load limitations for the existing 30" water. Include this as a general note and provide a strong caution note on the plan. If you have any questions call me or Mike Fay at Tel. (214)9484594. Sincerely yours, ect Engineer lopment Design R. General Notes # 1 and #2 are not relevant to this project. There are no fire hydrants connected to this transmission main. There is only one valve (30") and it is being removed rath~ than being abandoned. 2. lJse standard DWU Title Block on this sheet and assign sheet no. 1. 1. Assign sheet no. 2. 2. Show and label all proposed street light drill shafts on all design sheets. 3. Use DWU symbol for proposed curb on all design sheets: parallel dashed lines. 4. The stations in the overlap station equation are reversed: it should read 8+98.39 BK -- g+96.61FWD, in both plan and profile. (It currently reads as a gap equation.) 1. Assign sheet no. 3. 2. At Station 10+45, delete the obsolete reference to Appurtenance 414W-9 and 414W-10; substitute a reference to Special Air Valve Design; provide detail drawing on additional sheet 15. 3. The stations are reversed in the overlap equation. It should read 11+97.85BK = 11+95.61FWD. Sheet 3 1. Assign sheet no. 4. 2. Show 24" street light drill shafts. 3. Provide horizontal curve data for 30" pipe from station 17+20 to 18+20 which is drawn parallel to the curved paving centerline; or substitute a straight alignment. 4. Delete the 30" blow-offvalve on the proposed main at station 17+46. Call for a vertical 6" blow-off tap-valve on the ~ 30" water main at the low point at paving station 15+50 inside a 5' diameter MH. Call for a 40" Mit lid. 5. Delete both extraneous (& erroneous) station equations at the tie-in points in the profile; the plan view stationing is acceptable, with the water stationing referenced to paving stations. 6. Four feet of vertical clearance to clear the proposed 48" RCP is excessively deep: revise to clear by 2 feet. 7. At station 17+20 and 18+20 change the designation from horizontal bends to combined angle bends. I [ I : I © Sheet 4 1. Assign sheet no. 5. 2. The stations are reversed in both overlap equations. Both are written as gap equations. 3. See comment on Sheet 2, #2 regarding the Special Air Valve Detail. Sheet 5 1. Assign sheet no. 6. 2. In the plan and profile, call for installation of 22.5 degree bends. 3. The stations are reversed in both overlap equations, in both plan and profile. Sheet 6 1. Assign sheet no. 7. 2. The stations are reversed in the overlap station equation: written as a gap equation. 3. In the salvage note, change the 3" valve to 30" valve. 4. At station 68+50, add a note for a new 30" horizontal gate valve and 5' water MH with a 40" lid (to replace the valve being salvaged). Sheet 7 1. Assign sheet no. 8. 2. The stations are reversed in the overlap Station equation: written as a gap equation 3. See comment on Sheet 2, #2 regarding the Special Air Valve Detail. Sheet 8 1. Assign sheet no. 9. 2. The stations are reversed in the overlap station equation: written as a gap equation . 1. Assign sheet no. 10. 2. The stations are reversed in the overlap station equation: written as a gap equation 3. Delete the 30" blow-offvalve on the proposed water pipe. Call for a vertical 6# blow-offtap- valve inside a 5' diameter MH with a 40" lid at paving station 108+50 at MacArthur Blvd. (low point on the existing 30" main for dewatering the high point in advance of tie-ins). 1. Assign sheet no. 11. 2. The stations are reversed in the overlap station equation: written as a gap equation 3. At station 86+00 there is an apparent conflict with an existing 10" water. ! ] Ill Dll I~ Iit B I]1[[ [ir d Sheet 11 1. Assign sheet no. 12. 2. 'Also, provide for a vertical 6-inch blow-off tap-valve on the ~ 30" water at paving station 38+50 for dewatering the existing main prior to tie-in with the new pipe. 2. Label the footage and pipe materials on all profile sheets. 3.
