Test Procedure:
Each section of sewer shall be tested between sucessive manholes.
Air shall be introduced into the pipeline until 4.0 psi gauge pressure has been reached.
Al Ihat lime the flow of air shall be reduced and the internal air pressure shall be maintained
Oe~ween 3.5 and 4.5 psi gauge for at least two(2) minutes to allow the air temperature to come
to equilibrium with the temperature of the pipe wall.s. Pressure in the pipe shall be constantly
monilored by a gauge and hose arrangement separate from the hose used to introduce air into
the hne Pressure in Ihe pipe shall not be allowed to exceed 5 psi.
Aher the temperature has stabilized and no air leeks at the plugs have been found, the air pressure
shall be used Id determine Ihe time lapse required for the air pressure to drop to 2.5 psi gauge.
If the time lapse required for the air pressure to decrease from 3.5 to 2.5 psi exceeds that shown in
the following lable. Ihe pipe shall be presumed to be within acceptable limits i'or leakage.
if Ine lime lapsed is less than that shown in the table, the contractor shall make corrections to
reduce the leakage Io acceptable limits.
