Background:
City of Coppell inspector Larry Davis was on-site yesterday at the above referenced project
when the exposure and survey (by the utility contractor) of two existing manholes revealed that
the actual flow line elevations differed from the approved engineering plans. The contractor
sought to continue work to lay pipe between the manholes, however Mr. Davis required that
notification to and review by the Engineering Department take place. A submittal was received
in the Engineering Department this morning from Macatee Engineering proposing to revise the
grade line of the approximately 1700 LF of sanitary sewer to 0.35% between the manholes.
Per telephone conversation at approximately 2:00 p.m. with the Engineer of Record for the
project, Dayton Macatee, Macatee Engineers, the utility contractor provided the revised
elevations at the existing manholes. The proposed revisions are based on the information
provided to Mr. Macatee by the utility contractor with no verification of the information by
Macatee Engineers. When informed that Mr. Davis was not comfortable with the information
provided by the utility contractor, Mr. Macatee stated that he was absolutely comfortable with
survey information provided to him.
