Based on discussions during a March 23, 2005 preconstruction meeting an alternate approach
to that suggested in our Report No. 94051081.0015 was developed to address placing fill over
the wet sandy soils encountered in a small area (+ 1 acre) in the central portion of the site. The
area in questioned was to receive about 10 feet of grade raise fill.
Dewatering operation by the contractor improved the subgrade stability. A bridge lift of dry site
soils was placed over the area. This lift was less than 18 inches thick. Subsequent lifts of fill
were uniformly compacted to a minimum of 95 percent of ASTM D 698 at -1 to +3 percent of
optimum moisture content. The area was filled between March 23rd and April 18, 2005.
to provide these services.
Respectfully,
Ralph B. Barnes, Jr. P/E.J

This area is in a future phase of the development. Test borings will be required to develop
foundation recommendations and building pad preparation alternatives. Settlement is not
expected to be an issue, but drilled shaft founda~s may be required due to other issues, such
as expansive clays.
