It may not be spelled out in the specs, but, the specs also do not give the contractor the right to use imported fittings. The specs give the City the right to reject certain suppliers. On our yearly bid for water/wastewater system materials, we include the following statement "All ductile iron fittings or materials to be domestic iron". If we don't allow imported fittings on our yearly material bid, then we definitely would not allow them on City projects. Again, the answer is no. Sorry for the long response to a yes or no question, but I did want to explain the reasoning. Ken Griffin P. E. The specifications are not specific as to domestic vs. import. NCTCOG 2.18.8 is not specific. We do not have a negative opinion regarding imported fittings as long as they meet the specifications. Question: Can the contractor install imported fittings on water lines in Coppell? Please let me know so that I can advise the contrator.
