Dear Mr. Velasquez:
We are in receipt of a 'Work proposal" dated May 13, 2005 from Fox Contractors, outlining a request to
substitute 280 LF of directional bore with HDPE pipe for the specified 130 LF of dry bore and 150 LF of open
cut with PVC pipe at the Denton Creek crossing.
The City is willing to entertain this option with the following conditions:
1. The total cost of the 280 LF of HDPE installation does not exceed the contract value of the 130 LF of
dry bore plus 150 LF of open cut.
2. Due to the fact that the PVC pipe specification is AWWA C-900, class 200 (200 psi), DR-14, the City
requires HDPE, 200 psi, DR-9 pipe.
3. Due to the fact that the inside diameter (ID) of 12-inch PVC DR-14 is 11.20 inches, the City requires
a near equal ID for the HDPE and will accept 14-inch diameter DR-9 HDPE pipe with an ID of
approximately 10.7 inches, or greater.
4. The MJ adaptor kit is required to provide a solid connection between the PVC and HDPE pipes.
Based on these conditions, please resubmit the information so that a final determination may be made on this
proposal.
