2. CORRESPONDENCE/COMMUNICATION
All written correspondence sent to either the Owner, Conuaetor, or Engineer shall be
copied to all other parties. When referring to the project in correspondence, please
include both the Kimley-Hom project number 06940600 and the City of Coppell project
number ST 93-02.
3. NOTICE TO PROCEED
Pursuant to SC 1.16 a Notice to Proceed will be given to the Contractor. The contractor
agrees to begin construction within 10 calendar days after the date of the Notice to Proceed
and complete construction within 850 calendar days as indicated in the Notice to Proceed.
Any adjustment required to the above shall be handled by Change Order.
4. CONSTRUCTION LAYOUT
See SPR 1.9.
5. CHANGE ORDER
See GC 1.37.1. Any changes or deviations from the plans and specifications for the
project requiring additional ~o~.1~.. ction time shall be handled by Change Order.
All Change Orders will be ~ by the Contractor, Project Engineer and Owner. In
submitting Change Orders, please provide three copies for distribution.
Any changes or deviation from the plans and specifications not requiring additional
funding or construction time will be handled by a Field Change. Field Changes shall be
reviewed by the Engineer and approved by the City.
6. EXTENSION OF TIME
See SC 1.36.
7. DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS
The Contractor has been given five (5) sets of project pla,xq and specifications. Record
drawings are to be maintained at the project site by the Contractor, and submitted to the
Engineer upon completion of the project (see SS 01720)
8. CONTRACTOR'S ESTIMATE
See SS 01310. Prior to submitting Application for Payment to Engineer for review, the
Contractor shall verify that record documents have been updated to reflect variations from
the "As Bidn drawings up to the date for which the Contractor seeks payment. The
schedule for submitting payment requests is to be discussed.
9. GENERAL UTILITY NOTE
The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for locating all utilities, whether private or
public, prior to excavation. The information and data shown with respect to existing
Underground Facilities at or contiguous to the site is approximate and based on
information and data furnished by the owners of such Underground Facilities or on
physical appurtenances observed in the field. The OWNER and Engineer shall not be
responsible for the accuracy or completeft~s of any such information or data; and, the
CONTRACTOR, shall have full responsibility for reviewing and checking all such
information and data, for locating all Underground Facilities, for coordination of the Work
with the owners of such Underground Facilities during construction, for the safety and
protection thereof, and repairing any damage thereto resulting from the Work, the cost of
all of which will be considered as having been included in the Contract Pi'ice. The
CONTRACTOR shall notify any affected utility companies or agencies in writing at least
48 hours prior to beginning construction.
10. BARRICADES AND PUBLIC PROTECTION
The Contractor shall be responsible for barricades, barricade maintenance and public
protection at all hours. After hour hazards appearing at the construction site shall be
remedied immediately, upon notification.
11. ADDITIONAL WORK
Any additional work performed by the Contractor not covered by the scope of this project,
and without an approved change order, shall be at the sole expense of the Contractor.
12. AFFIDAVIT OF FINAL PAYMENT AND RELEASE
At the completion of the project, and prior to the Final Pay Request, the Contractor shall
submit to the Owner an Affidavit and Waiver of Lien and an Affidavit of All Bills Paid.
13. MAINTAINING ADJACENT PROPERTY
See SPR 1.4, 1.13, 1.16, 1.19. Discussion of abatement of noise, dust and mud.
14. SUBCONTRACTING
All items of work are the direct responsibility of the Contractor. There should be no
direct communication between Subcontractors and either the Owner or the Engineer.
15. SHOP DRAWINGS AND SAMPLES
The Engineer will review all submittals as quickly as possible, but does not guarantee that
his review will be completed within any pre-established period of time. Should the
Contractor include review time by the Engineer in his schedule of work, the Engineer
assumes no responsibility for meeting this schedule. The Contractor shall submit 6 or
more copies, 4 of which will be retained by the Engineer for distribution. All other
reviewed copies shall be returned to the Contractor.
16. WORKING DAYS / HOURS
Discussion of normal working days and hours.
17. PERMITS

20. TRAFFIC CONTROL
Discussion of impact of construction on access to businesses along construction route,
emergency access (fire and police), school access and traffic management plan.
21. PUBLIC RELATIONS
Discussion of general public relations issues including the importance of publicity and
responsiveness to citizen concerns. Information on this project will be freely distributed
to the citizens of Coppell. Methods of distributing this information will include the City
of Coppell website (interne0, a telephone hofline, bi-weekly newsletters, meetings with
Home Owners Associations, and informative BBQs. The importance of friendly,
responsive interaction between the Contractor's on-site representatives and the citizens of
Coppell cannot be over-emphasized.
