RE: Vista Point 11
Deccl lane
[)ear Mr. Griffin,
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has carefully reviewed the plans for thc above-
referenced project near thc corncr of eastbound Slt 121 and MacArthur Boulevard. We can not allow
the construction of a dcccleration lane for the driveway being built in connection with this project
because we feel it will compromise the safety and operation of our roadway.
Our minimum criteria for driveway spacing downstream of an exit ramp, with three (3) weaving
lanes, is 460 feet. The proposed driveway is located at this point, llowever, the addition ofa decel
lane would increase the number of weaving lancs to tbur (4) and thc minimum spacing would
increase to 560 feet. A proposed driveway at this point would not meet the minimum connection
spacing between it and MacArthur Boulevard which would also negatively impact the roadway's
safety and operation.
Therefore, we feel that the proposed driveway, without a decel lane, is the best solution for the
optimal safety and operation of our roadway. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at
972-479-9747.
Sincerely,
Praxedis Garzal P.E.
