Re: Bethel School and Macarthur
Mr. Schnapka:
We have issued a work order for the Streets Department to look at the intersection. The Engineering Department is currently working on plans to
replace the brick paver crosswalks with stamped concrete in five to seven of the major intersections along MacArthur. The newly constructed
intersection at Sandy Lake and MacArthur has stamped concrete crosswalks. The intersection at Bethel School rates as one of the highest in need
of repair.
We must have approval from the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration to leave the existing handicapped ramps in place. If we do not
get approval, the cost of replacing all of the ramps and crosswalks would be prohibitive. We will then have to look at other options for repairing the
intersections.
Should you have any questions, please contact me at 972-304-7019.

The intersection of Bethel School and Macarthur Bird continues to
deteriorate. The road surface at this intersection is terrible and
attracts water. And then the standing water contributes to the
deterioration of the roadway. The decorative brick that is in this
intersection is in need of repair for the millionth time. Please take the
necessary activity to repair this before it becomes more dangerous than it
already is.
Whoever designed and suggested that the city install these decorative
bricks at major intersections within our borders did not take into
consideration the amount of wear and tear they would receive. I don't
believe there are any intersections containing decorative brick that are
NOT in need of repair. Looks good but not practical!
