population of 16881; Gov. Mark White, State Treasurer Ann Richards and
Atty. General Jim Mattox were dominating the news as critics critiqued

the Mavericks not only defeated the Phoenix Suns ~°.~~.3~.re, but they
actually had a winning record at 32-25 (a si.gh.t not see~n~in recent seasons);
the Coppell Cowboys defeated Bowie 12-2~o start their season 2-0; and
Gov. Clinton of Arkansas, in his re-election campaign for governor,
emphatically stated that he would not mn for president in 1992;
After voting that day, Coppell citizens had their choice of going to the
movies to see "Driving Miss Daisy" (which was nominated for 9 Academy
Awards) or "Hunt for Red October". Or, they could jttt stay home and4~
